Admiral Grundy is a retired admiral who is a friend of Mr. Gruber. He currently lives in a village in France, and fishes for mackerel in the sea in a boat that he has owned for 50 years. He uses sea dialect, saying things such as "Tie it up". Phrases like those caused Paddington to misinterpret the phrases, which caused Admiral Grundy, Mr. Gruber, and Paddington to temporarily get stranded on an island in A Spot of Fishing. However, the Admiral and his visitors eventually got off the island. He is experienced as a fisherman and other outdoorsman skills.
