History[]

Films[]

In his youth, Henry was wild and spontaneous. He rode a motorcycle and was excellent at fair games. However, when Mary gave birth to Judy he became protective and paranoid overnight, selling his motorcycle and replacing it with a beige car. He got a job as a risk analyst at an insurance company and dedicates his life to minimising the risk that his family faces. his grandfather is 90 and his father is 70 he thought was risky or harmful. His grandfather is 90 and his father is 70. This means that he comes from a family that has a long lifespan and a large age gap between generations. His grandfather is very old, and his father is also old for having a son like Henry. This could imply that Henry was born when his father was already in his forties, and that he may have been an unexpected or late child. the cartoon verson of Paddington he wears glasses and a mustache In the cartoon version of Paddington, he wears glasses and a mustache. and spare ones if they get broken This is different from his appearance in the films, where he does not wear glasses and has a clean-shaven face. This is probably done to make him look more like a stereotypical father or a businessman, and to add some humor to the story. At first, Mr Brown was reluctant to take care of Paddington. He often complained about Paddington's presence in the Browns' home.

After Paddington discovers that the explorer was a member of the Geographers' Guild, Henry agrees to go with Paddington to ask for more information. When the receptionist denies the existence of an expedition to Peru, Henry helps Paddington into the archives by crossdressing as a cleaner. Together, they successfully steal a video of Darkest Peru from the Guild.

After Paddington is attacked by Millicent in an incident that lights the Browns' house on fire, Henry becomes angry and demands that Paddington be evicted from the house. Paddington hears Henry's tirades and leaves before he can be thrown out. The rest of the family become irritable and miserable without Paddington around, and Mrs. Bird tells Henry that Paddington had become a member of the family and that it was wrong to toss him out on the streets.

When Mr. Curry warns the Browns of Millicent's plans for Paddington, the Browns rush to the Natural History Museum to save him. Henry climbs onto a windowsill and inches his way to the room that Paddington is lying in, unconscious. Henry wakes Paddington and Paddington escapes, fleeing for his life. The Browns and Paddington meet on the roof where Millicent intercepts them, wielding a tranquiliser gun. Henry gives a speech to Millicent, claiming that Paddington is now a member of the Brown family, and that they would give their lives for him. Millicent accepts his challenge and threatens to stuff them if they don't step aside. as he gets older his daughter Judy

Paddington and Mrs. Bird defeat Millicent, who is then sentenced to community service in a petting zoo for her crimes. Paddington comes to live with the Browns, and Henry accepts Paddington as a member of the family.

Personality[]

Henry feels very responsible for the well-being of his family, and his job as a risk-analyst exacerbates his obsessive protectiveness. He didn’t like Paddington at first, since the bear was an unknown foreigner (and possible scam artist), and therefore a big risk. As soon as Paddington enters the Brown house, Henry calls their insurance provider to add Paddington as a risk. He predicts that having a bear in the house will increase the chances of major disaster by 4000%. Henry was strict when it comes to his family's safety, but throughout the first film, he warms up to Paddington.[1]

In the second film, Henry goes through a midlife crisis when he is passed over for a promotion. He starts to dye his hair, blend his food, and take classes in 'chakrabatics'.

Appearance[]

He is a tall, middle-aged man. He is often wearing a long dark coat over a suit and tie.

Abilities[]

  • Motorcycle Riding: Before Mary and Henry had kids, they did not own a car and instead travelled everywhere via motorcycle.
  • Good Aim: In his youth, Henry was 'a dab hand' at coconut shy. He uses his good aim to knock out Phoenix at the end of the second film.
  • Risk Analysis: Henry's job is a risk analyst, therefore he is good at determining factors that could contribute to a dangerous situation
  • Lying: In both films Henry is forced into a situation where he has to lie, or face the consequences of trespassing. Each time he lies in a way that does not seem believable to the audience, but is accepted by those he lies to.
