Paddington Bear (Hanna Barbara)

Paddington Bear is an animated series that aired from 1989-1990 made by Hanna-Barbera in association with Central Independent Television. It ran for one season of 13 episodes.

Production[]

Hanna-Barbera Productions produced 13 half-hour episodes to air as part of the two-hour “The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera” Sunday morning package.[1]

Plot[]

The episodes were based on the stories written by Michael Bond and also incorporated new material. It retained the same characters with one notable exception, a relative called David Russell who travelled from America to stay with the Browns.

1 "Please Look After This Bear (Episode)" 2 December 1989 The Browns pick up their nephew at Paddington Station. There, they meet a bear and decide to adopt him. They name him after the station. Mr. and Mrs. Brown buy Paddington new clothes and take him out to dinner.
2 "Calling Dr. Paddington" 3 December 1989 Mr. Curry tricks Paddington Bear into doing gardening chores. However, there is an incident that sends Mr. Curry to the hospital. Paddington Bear visits him regularly, and one day as he is exploring other areas of the hospital he runs into a doctor, who gives Paddington the solution to Mr. Curry's problem.
3 "Curtain Call for Paddington" 9 December 1989 The Brown family attends the theatre and Paddington sneaks backstage to assist the actors with their performance.
4 "Paddington's Sticky Situation" 10 December 1989 Things get a little sticky when Paddington Bear visits a marmalade factory.
5 "Bear-Hugged" 16 December 1989 Paddington is helping Mr. Gruber to restore an antique steam-powered car for the festive parade. However, the car is damaged during the caber toss competition! Paddington eventually convinces Mr. Galore to help fix the car, but will it be too late?
6 "Paddington Meets the Queen" 24 December 1989 Paddington visits the Royal Museum, gets into a royal coach and meets Queen Elizabeth II. Unfortunately, he is arrested at the Tower of London and has to escape in order to make it back in time for sandwiches with the Queen.
7 "The Ghost of Christmas Paddington" 25 December 1989 It's Christmas time and everyone is experiencing the holiday craze! That includes Paddington Bear, who gets mistaken for the Ghost of Christmas Past by his nasty neighbor.
8 "Paddington for Prime Minister" 6 January 1990 Election Day arrives, and Mr. Gruber takes Paddington Bear to Hyde Park. There, Paddington gets nominated for Prime Minister. The Browns are amazed. However, the current PM convinces Paddington to support his re-election. In return, Paddington will become the Minister of Marmalade.
9 "Goings on at 32" 7 January 1990 When the television is busted, Paddington finds out that the repairman is actually the Portobello Prowler...
10 "Fishing for Paddington" 13 January 1990 Paddington spends a lovely day at the seaside. But it becomes suspicious, when Paddington lends a paw to life-saving.
11 "Ride 'em Paddington" 14 January 1990 The singing cowboy Rudy Tootin' discovers a worthy competitor in Paddington Bear. It turns out that Paddington is as handy with the cowboy stuff as he is with the jar of marmalade.
12 "Expedition Paddington" 20 January 1990 Paddington signs up for a raft expedition, but he soon discovers that the inflatable dinghies are difficult to handle.
13 "The Picture of Paddington Brown" 21 January 1990 Paddington finds out that his Aunt Lucy in Peru is missing him a lot. So he decides to send her a jar of marmalade. But to do that, Paddington has to sell a painting to raise the money.
