Phibs is a character from Paddington 2. He was an inmate in prison with Paddington. He is a friend of Paddington, Knuckles, Spoon and the other prisoners.

History[]
Phibs was Paddington's first friend in prison. His cell was next to Paddington's. He talks to Paddington during their first meal time and tries to comfort Paddington about the food, failing miserably.
After Paddington works with Knuckles to make marmalade sandwiches for the prisoners, Phibs stands up and asks for dessert. Although Paddington and Knuckles do not know how to make desserts, other inmates offer recipes. Phibs becomes one of the many inmates working in the kitchen, helping make a range of desserts.
Later, Phibs allies himself with Spoon and Knuckles in a plot to escape the prison. He, along with the other two, try to convince Paddington to break out with them by promising to clear his name. They eventually persuade him and they all fly out of the prison in a hot air balloon. They then plan to leave the country in a small plane and disappear, but Paddington runs away, betrayed that they lied about clearing his name.
Phibs and the other two ex-inmates listen to the radio in the plane, announcing their escape. However, the reporter also mentions that Paddington has been located and is soon to be apprehended. Phibs and Spoon have a change of heart and think that they should go and help Paddington. Knuckles resists for a few minutes before caving and turning the plane towards the steam train, where Paddington is trying to evade Phoenix Buchanan.
Phoenix locks Paddington in a carriage, then diverts the train tracks so the carriage plunges into a river, not before being knocked out by Henry Brown. Mary Brown tries to break the chains that lock the carriage door, but is too weak. Knuckles, Phibs and Spoon all arrive in the plane and jump into the river to help Mary. Together, they manage to break the chain and free Paddington. The Browns take the ill Paddington home and the ex-inmates head back to London.
After saving Paddington from drowning, Phibs, Knuckles and Spoon are pardoned for their crimes, as they have proved to be 'changed men'.
Personality[]
Phibs is friendly, cooperative and confident. He makes friends with Paddington easily and feels brave enough to question Knuckles after he and Paddington become friends. He works well with the other inmates to break out of prison and save Paddington from drowning to death.
Abilities[]
- Taste in Food: Phibs has a refined and discerning taste in food, since he used to be a restaurant critic.
- Stealth: Phibs manages to escape prison with the others by being quick and quiet.
- Lock-Picking: After escaping, they land the hot air balloon in a locked area and Phibs picks the padlock holding the fence while Knuckles tells Paddington they aren't planning on clearing his name.
